Sydney O’Hara, Lindsey Silfer and Amy VanHoven have all committed to extend their softball
careers at the Division I college level. The three All-CNY softball players from
Cicero-North Syracuse will each sign a letter of intent during a ceremony at
3:30 p.m. today at the high school.
O’Hara, the All-CNY Player of the Year for the past two seasons, will sign
with Syracuse University. She is the second Northstar to commit to the Orange as
Morgan Nandin has been with Syracuse since 2010.
Entering into her senior season, O’Hara, who played on varsity as an eighth
grader, has compiled a 37-5 pitching record and 598 strikeouts. She also
produces at the plate with a .440 batting average over the last three
seasons.
Silfer, a catcher, will continue her college career at Canisus. Entering into
her senior she has delivered at the plate, batting over 400 the past three
seasons.
VanHoven, only a junior, will play at Fordam. Entering into her junior season
the slick fielding shortstop has played on varsity since her freshman year. When
at the plate, VanHoven has delivered as well, averaging over .400 the past three
seasons.
